Leigh Leopards head coach Adrian Lam has given his verdict after a frustrating loss to Catalans Dragons in round four of Super League.
A week after shipping over 50 points to Wigan Warriors, Leigh conceded 22 as they lost 22-16 to Catalans Dragons to slip to twelfth in Super League.
Their record of one win and three losses with a whopping -50 points difference marks their worst start to a Super League season since their return to the competition in 2023.
Speaking post-match on Sky Sports, Adrian Lam cut a frustrated figure with the Leopards boss admitting that whilst there was improvement from the week prior, there wasn’t enough connection.
“It’s obviously very frustrating,” he said.
“I think there was plenty of effort there, but we just lacked a lot of game sense. We won a lot of field position but we just couldn’t get connected as a group.”

Leigh Leopards ‘not clicking’ so far in 2026
Having been hammered so badly at the hands of Wigan, Lam was asked about the importance of getting a response, if not a result.
To that, he said: “Yeah, like I said, I think there was plenty of effort there, but it’s just not clicking for us at the moment.
“It’s frustrating to watch at times. We built a lot of pressure there and then allow them back off the hook with just weird penalties in different crucial parts of the game and moments that didn’t go our way.”
At 20-10 down and with the Leopards starting to win the ruck, Leigh scored as Gaz O’Brien assisted Tesi Niu, however, O’Brien had to leave the field for a Head Injury Assessment.
Lam offered an update on the makeshift full-back but didn’t use it as an excuse, stating: “I think it was one of those gumshield reactions that’s new this year to the RFL and Super League so, we had to make that replacement, but we did enough.
“We had that many opportunities in the second half to score, but again just lacked a bit of game sense and just key people not getting us in positions to finish the game for us really.”
Looking ahead and Leigh have Hull FC at home in the Challenge Cup but with their squad so beat up, despite O’Brien passing his HIA, they’re still short on numbers.
Lam admitted: “This is what we’ve got at the moment. I think there was only 19 to pick from this week, so we’ve just got ourselves to take care of this.
“We’ll go in there and I’ll support them. It’s not ideal losing at home. It’s a game we would have won at this time last year, but that’s the situation that we’re in at the moment. I’ll talk to them and just keep their heads up and we’ll go again.”
