The second Saturday Super League game sees Leeds Rhinos host Warrington Wolves, and the matchday team news is now in.
The Rhinos have been quietly rising up the table, now sitting in third with nine victories, and Jake Connor at the helm has significantly improved Leeds’ attack.
With the Wolves loss at Wembley last week, they now only have the league to focus on.
However, they languish in eighth. A loss today and wins for St Helens and Wakefield tomorrow would see a three-point gap open up above them.
Following the squad news during the week, the matchday line-ups are now in for Leeds Rhinos v Warrington Wolves.
Leeds Rhinos v Warrington Wolves squads
Leeds Rhinos team news
Leeds head coach Brad Arthur has named the same backline that beat Wakefield Trinity a fortnight ago, with the Rhinos boss finally getting some consistency.
However, he’s made changes in his forward pack instead. There’s a return for Morgan Gannon, who missed out last time out, with James Bentley dropping to the bench.
Cooper Jenkins, Matt Frawley and Andy Ackers were all senior players playing in the reserves this weekend, with Ackers making his return from injury.
Leeds Rhinos XIII: Lachlan Miller, Ryan Hall, Harry Newman, Ash Handley, Riley Lumb, Jake Connor, Brodie Croft, Keenan Palasia, Jarrod O’Connor, Mikolaj Oledzki, James McDonnell, Morgan Gannon, Kallum Watkins.
Interchanges: Tom Holroyd, Sam Lisone, James Bentley, Cameron Smith.
Warrington Wolves team news
With Matt Dufty’s absence, Warrington boss Sam Burgess has chosen to move Josh Thewlis off the wing and into the fullback role.
Connor Wrench replaces him on the wing, playing alongside Toby King, with Arron Lindop and Rodrick Tai on the other side.
Burgess has named the same forward pack as last weekend’s Challenge Cup loss, but has made one change to the bench.
Out goes veteran utility Stefan Ratchford and in comes young prop Max Wood on a very forward-heavy bench.
Warrington Wolves XIII: Josh Thewlis, Arron Lindop, Rodrick Tai, Toby King, Connor Wrench, George Williams, Marc Sneyd, Luke Yates, Sam Powell, Paul Vaughan, Lachlan Fitzgibbon, Adam Holroyd, Ben Currie.
Interchanges: James Harrison, Jordy Crowther, Joe Philbin, Max Wood.
