The Super League Man of Steel winner for 2025 was confirmed tonight at the Rugby League Awards night in Manchester with mid-season leader Jake Connor winning the title.
Leeds Rhinos playmaker Connor has claimed the award after an incredible 2025 campaign that saw him register 30 assists whilst scoring seven tries.
Connor came out on top of a three-man shortlist that also included Wigan Warriors’ Jai Field and 2024 Super League Man of Steel Mikey Lewis, with both players preparing for Saturday’s Grand Final.
Connor’s Grand Final hopes came crashing to an end in dramatic fashion at Headingley as St Helens came from eight points down with five minutes to play, with their iconic ‘Left to Wright’ try winning it after the hooter had blown.
Despite not making the Super League semi-finals, Connor was still handed the Man of Steel award and it’s a decision that’s hard to argue against given the impact he has had during his first season at Leeds Rhinos.

Jake Connor crowned Super League Man of Steel
Connor’s win makes him just the fifth Leeds Rhinos player to win the Man of Steel for them with only Iestyn Harris (1998) and Zak Hardaker (2015) winning it in the Super League era.
Having led the Man of Steel leaderboard at the halfway stage of the season when the scores went dark, Connor carried his form into the second half of the year and managed to win the crown.
He was handed the award at tonight’s Rugby League Awards where he beat out Australian full-back Jai Field who has scored 24 tries in the regular season whilst adding 21 assists, with only Mikey Lewis having more try contributions (19 tries and 28 assists).
Despite those figures, Connor was the man to claim the title and his influence on Leeds makes it understandable for that to be the case with his season previously recognised with selection to the Super League Dream Team.
Earlier in the evening Harry Robertson had been crowned Super League Young Player of the Year, whilst Hull KR head coach Willie Peters was named Coach of the Year for a second consecutive year.
Wigan’s Eva Hunter was crowned Woman of Steel with London Roosters’ Joe Coyd winning the Wheels of Steel prize.
