Leeds Rhinos, St Helens and Warrington Wolves dominate 2025 Academy Origin squads

Yorkshire and Lancashire will face off for the 2025 Academy Origin and Leeds Rhinos are among the teams dominating the squads.

In total, 11 Leeds Rhinos players have been named in Yorkshire’s 21-man squad which is an incredible achievement, whilst St Helens and Warrington Wolves pack out the Lancashire side.

The two-game series between the rival counties will kick off in Castleford on Saturday May 10th with the second game played in early August at Craven Park.

There are plenty of famous names involved, not just from a playing perspective but also on the coaching and mentoring front.

Leroy Cudjoe will serve as one of the assistants for Yorkshire with Luke Gale set to serve as mentor, whereas, Lancashire will have James Simpson MBE, one of the Wheelchair World Cup winners, in their camp.

Live coverage of the first fixture has also been confirmed with the RFL’s YouTube channel set to show the clash, slated for 12 noon on Saturday 10th May.

Academy Origin squads confirmed as 11 from Leeds Rhinos named

Among the 11 Leeds Rhinos players named for the Yorkshire squad are some familiar names with Joe Diskin, the son of Matt, set to be in line to play at hooker.

Jason Qareqare’s younger brother Marcus is also part of that Leeds Rhinos set-up whilst highly-touted forward Presley Cassell is another one to watch.

Brothers Callum and Lloyd Kemp from Hull FC are named whilst Chris Matagi, son of Doncaster forward Suaia is in the Yorkshire squad despite being a St Helens academy player.

As for the Lancashire side, St Helens have eight there with Warrington also boasting eight, including Ewan Irwin who has been named by Sam Burgess to this week’s 21-man squad.
