Leeds Rhinos have confirmed another immediate release with a homegrown utility now departing to seek other options for 2026.
Jack Sinfield, the son of Leeds Rhinos legend Kevin, has been released from his contract with the Headingley club allowing the 21-year-old to look at other options for 2026 and beyond.
The news was confirmed by the club via social media with an accompanying statement explaining the decision as well, with Sinfield seeking the release in order to look for longer-term options.
Sinfield was contracted until the end of 2026 but his release now means he can sign a longer deal with a new club.
The news comes amid reports that Wakefield Trinity are keen on his services with Serious About Rugby League having reported that the playmaker had been given permission to speak with other clubs. It was also understood that a deal had been done with Wakefield who have recently acquired former Rhinos head of youth John Bastian.

Jack Sinfield released from Leeds Rhinos
Sinfield made 13 appearances for the Rhinos in 2025 having made his debut at Leeds back in 2022. He played much of his time from the bench, often used at hooker but his preferred position is in the halves where he dd feature at times.
Sporting director Ian Blease explained the decision, stating: “Jack’s agent approached the club about the possibility of a release to allow him to look at longer term options from next season.
“Jack has been an outstanding professional and a vital member of our squad over the last two seasons, particular preparation for the first team in our opposed training sessions and leading our young Reserves team this season. But we understand his desire to be a starting half back and to run a team.
“I look forward to seeing how he progresses in the coming years. He is a popular member of our squad and leaves AMT Headingley with our best wishes.”
Head Coach Brad Arthur added: “I would like to wish Jack all the best for the future. His attitude and commitment to improve have been first class since I arrived at the club.
“I think he should be applauded for wanting to test himself as a regular starting half and take on the next challenge. At this stage, we are unable to offer that at the Rhinos but we wish him all the best.”
Leeds Rhinos have agreed to release Jack Sinfield, 21, from the remaining year of his contract to allow him to look at other options for next season and beyond.
