Leeds Rhinos prop talks Hull KR’s biggest threat and what part of his game he believes has got him an England call-up

Leeds Rhinos prop Tom Holroyd celebrates scoring a try

Leeds Rhinos prop Tom Holroyd has started off 2025 strongly, earning himself a spot in Shaun Wane’s England training squad last week.

The 24-year-old has missed just one round of Super League this season, putting in some big minutes, featuring from the bench mostly.

However, heading to Hull KR on Sunday, he knows that it’s a mammoth task for his Leeds side to continue to grow as a team.

Speaking on the Leeds Rhinos YouTube channel, he said: “We’re heading in the right direction, and it’s interesting to see where we can go this year.

“They’re (Hull KR) a really good team. We had a close battle last time here at Headigley, so we owe them one relaly to go over there and do our job.”

He picked out Mikey Lewis as a standout player for Hull KR, but also noted how Rovers forwards have played their part too.

However, he believes that the Rhinos first need to focus on their own game and what they bring to Hull KR.

He added: “He’s (Mikey Lewis) a talented player and the forward lads do their job there and do it well. I think it’s more about us and what we can do. We have that self-belief that we can go there and do it.”

Leeds Rhinos prop on enjoying his rugby and what he prides himself on the most

After his England call-up, Holroyd shared that he’s always striving to improve, and he prides himself on the hard work he does every week at the Rhinos.

He finished: “It’s all about the work behind the scenes, and the work that I’m doing for the lads, and what they’re doing for me. It’s enjoyable playing in this team at the minute.

“I’m excited about every game, and I’m loving playing. I think that plays a big part in playing well.”
