Leeds Rhinos prop Sam Lisone has been an ever-present for his team in 2025 so far, but admits that he’s always looking to up his game.
Lisone came off the bench in the Rhinos’ 29-6 victory over Castleford Tigers on Saturday and snagged himself two tries in his stint also.
Despite playing in every game this season, he’s featured off the bench in every one of them, admitting that the Leeds forward pack is competitive.
The 31-year-old spoke to Leeds’ media team after the match against the Tigers and shared that he’s happy to feature wherever needed.
He said: “If you look at our forward pack, we’ve got so many decent forwards that are competing for spots.
“We’ve just got to utilise all of them, I think we’re doing a great job of dictating to other teams now, and it’s been enjoyable to watch.
“Obviously, you’ve got to stay on your game because we’ve got a lot of forwards who are playing well.
“Coming off the bench, when it’s close, you try to add a bit of flavour to the pack. I was just happy that I could do my job for the boys.”
Leeds Rhinos go three from three to climb up to third in the Super League table
The Leeds Rhinos prop was pleased with the efforts from his side in front of a hostile Castleford crowd for a West Yorkshire derby.
Lisone added: “It was a tough game. Obviously, they came to play; it was neck and neck throughout the first half, so we’re just happy that we’re going away with the two points.
“It’s a hard place to play, the crowd are really vocal, but proud of the boys’ performance.
“We knew we had to reset and go again because in the second half, they came out firing and scored on the first set.
“It was a bit of a wake-up call. After that, I think we just got back to our process.”
That win moved the Rhinos up into third in the Super League table, and next, they host Wakefield Trinity, a game that the prop is expecting to be a close encounter.
Lisone finished: “Wakefield’s going pretty well too, so it’ll be a good challenge for us, but we’re back at home.
“Hopefully, we get a lot of fans out there to support us, and we can make it four in a row.”
