Leeds Rhinos coach Brad Arthur talks Hull FC as personal impact of son’s move explained

Leeds Rhinos boss Brad Arthur has spoken about the impact of having his son, Jake, in the UK after the half-back signed for Hull FC for 2026.

The elder Arthur also spoke about how his son has fared so far with the Black and Whites, whilst speaking briefly on how Hull FC could go next season.

Jake Arthur is the major signing made by Hull FC for 2026 with the Australian completing their spine and set to partner Aidan Sezer in the halves, but for Brad Arthur, it’s just nice to have his son that bit closer.

Speaking as part of a press call, available to watch on the Leeds Rhinos YouTube channel, whilst in Tenerife on warm weather training camp, Brad Arthur was asked what it means to have his son Jake in England as well.

“It’s just nice to be able to pick up the phone at a normal time of the day and talk to him instead of having to talk to him at 4 o’clock in the morning,” the coach admitted.

“It’s nice to have him over here and it’s good for his mum and his sister as well to have our family a bit stronger, and a bit tighter, and a bit closer. We’ve still got one back in Australia.”

Brad Arthur piles praise on Hull FC as son’s move discussed

It wasn’t just family affairs that Arthur spoke about, answering questions on how his son has found the move to Hull FC and how he’s faring ahead of the new season.

Brad Arthur explained: “As for the footy, Jake is really enjoying his time over there (Hull FC) under Carty (John Cartwright) and they’ve got a lot of good players over there as well.”

He went on to commend the squad built at Hull FC with former Leeds Rhinos man Richier Myler the Black and Whites’ director of rugby these days.

“I think they’ve recruited really well in terms of the depth of their squad and on paper, if  they can be all healthy, then they’ve got a really good squad,” admitted Arthur, before speaking more on how Jake has found training so far, and what could be expected.

He added: “He is liking training with Seze (Aidan Sezer) and doing a bit of work with him. He’s experienced and Jake can only get better and learn from him.”

The Arthur duo won’t have to wait long until they face off with the first match up between Hull FC and Leeds coming in round five, when the Rhinos travel to the MKM Stadium on Sunday, 22nd March.
