Round three of Super League has concluded and it’s left a number of players sweating over today’s disciplinary verdict.
It’s been a chaotic round in Super League packed full of surprise results as this season continues to prove tough to predict. A prime example of the competition’s unpredictable nature would be the fact that Hull KR shipped ten tries against Leeds Rhinos in Las Vegas.
The Rhinos routed the Robins to win 58-6 in the early hours of Sunday morning but Hull KR won’t the only team to have 50+ stuck on them, with Leigh Leopards falling 54-0 to Wigan Warriors on Thursday night.
York Knights then caused an upset when they beat Hull FC 17-16on Friday night whilst Castleford Tigers punished a woeful Huddersfield side to win 34-8.
It was a similar tale on Saturday night as St Helens took advantage of a sloppy Catalans Dragons to win 36-4 in the south of France, whilst Sam Burgess’ Warrington made it two from two when they beat Wakefield Trinity 27-16. Bradford then saw off Toulouse to move to fourth in Super League and cap off round three of the competition.
Three players were sin binned across the seven Super League games but a number of others will have disciplinary concerns.

Which players are sweating today’s Super League disciplinary?
The most obvious candidate for not only a charge but also a ban is Huddersfield Giants’ Taane Milne with the centre sin binned for ruck infringement, however, it’s the high shot penalty that he committed minutes earlier that will have him concerned.
Milne charged off his line and almost took Castleford’s Krystian Mapapalangi’s head clean off but the Cas man, to his credit, got up very quickly and perhaps saved Milne from a sin bin. With the Huddersfield man believed to be on 3.25 penalty points, a Grade B charge would be enough to land him a ban.
Hull FC’s Jed Cartwright was another to be sin binned with the second-rower catching David Nofoaluma high, however, even if he were to be banned then it may not matter as Cartwright suffered yet another hamstring injury. Another who may be concerned in that game is Paul Vaughan with the York forward placed on report late on for a shot on Cade Cust.
Another incident that was placed on report came in the Bradford Bulls and Toulouse clash when a melee saw Waqa Blake, Esan Marsters and Tyler Dupree all become embroiled with one another. Unable to identify who or what started it, Scott Mikalauskas placed the whole incident on report.
Warrington’s Toafofoa Sipley was another who saw yellow, however, that came as a result of repeat offences so any charge will likely be on the lesser end of the scale.
A number of other players who were penalised but didn’t go to the sin bin could fear today’s verdict with one such man being the star of Las Vegas, Maika Sivo. The Fijian winger caught Peta Hiku with his shoulder late and that’s something we have seen punished in recent weeks.
Similarly, Jack Ashworth, had a late hit that required Matty English to have a head injury assessment and given Ashworth’s lingering disciplinary record following last year’s seven-match ban, even a minor charge would result in another ban.
