Rugby League News: Leeds and Wigan signings, Reynolds reacts to Hull FC axing & Sinfield back to Super League?

It has been a busy 24 hours with major stories breaking from Super League and the NRL.

Here is a round-up of everything that has happened…

Pearce-Paul’s ominous message

Wigan Warriors star Kai Pearce-Paul has sent out an ominous message on his social media account.

Pearce-Paul has been heavily linked with a move away from the DW Stadium and he looks in incredible shape. Read more here.

Horrendous injuries

There was much controversy at the weekend with a pair of horrendous injuries. One game ended with a star having to be taken to hospital with a double leg break and a dislocated ankle. Read more here.

Magoulias’ new club

Former Warrington Wolves forward Billy Magoulias has found a new club.

He left the Halliwell Jones after playing just 12 games for Daryl Powell who revealed he would not be kept on past 2022 anyway. Find his new club here.

Favourite for Saints job?

The St Helens Star has produced its weekly column and in it is the ‘favourite’ for the successor to Kristian Woolf at St Helens.

That man, according to the paper, is his assistant and Saints legend Paul Wellens.

Sinfield future

Leeds Rhinos legend Kevin Sinfield has set the rumour mill going after making a big admission on his future to the Ventur Further podcast.

Sinfield only left rugby league in 2021 but recently won the title with Leicester Tigers in union. Read more here.

Castleford signings

Serious About Rugby League has revealed three players whom Lee Radford could have his eye on for Castleford Tigers. Read more here.

Fev and Newcastle coups

Featherstone Rovers announced a big signing last night that goes some way to bolstering their pack in the hunt for Super League. Read more here.

Leeds and Wigan signings

Leeds Rhinos head coach Rohan Smith has revealed that a ‘flurry of new signings’ is expected at Headingley. However, Smith also revealed that more key departures are expected. Read more here.

French future

Bevan French continues to be linked with a Super League rival despite calls from his Wigan Warriors boss Matt Peet to stay on.

Reynolds reacts

Josh Reynolds is no longer a Hull FC player, that much has been confirmed by head coach Brett Hodgson. Hodgson also commented on how Reynolds too the news, stating: “At this stage I believe he is okay,” Hodgson told Hull Live. “I know that the players have been reaching out to him. I’ve reached out to him as well. He seems to understand the scenario at hand. Obviously, he is disappointed and would have preferred to have continued playing.”

However, Hodgson has given an injury update on Carlos Tuimavave and Jordan Johnstone and has rubbished reports that the likes of Dean Hawkins and Bevan French have been linked to the club. Read more on Reynolds’ potential replacement here.

Hastings reacts

Ex-Wigan Warriors star Jackson Hastings has hit back at online trolls following some hefty criticism.

The halfback has been linked with a move away from Wests Tigers despite only leaving Super League in 2021. Read more here.

Hull KR chief executive Paul Lakin has broken his silence on the major news earlier this year that Tony Smith would leave the club.

Former Castleford Tigers forward Jacques O’Neill being in the Love Island villa helped Castleford announce a big new signing. O’Neill went into the ITV2 program last Sunday. Read more on this here.

There is the potential for good news on the injury front for the Tigers, too, with Niall Evalds expected back soon whilst Jordan Turner is back training with the first team.

Gale on the move?

Serious About Rugby League has broached the idea of Luke Gale potentially leaving Hull FC at the end of 2022.
