Wigan Warriors stand-off Jack Farimond was an overwhelming man of the match in today’s Challenge Cup final demolition of Hull KR – despite being substituted after 61 minutes.
By the time he went off – to be replaced by former Man of Steel Bevan French making his return from long-term injury – the 20-year-old had scored two tries and set up another to put Wigan well on course to a 40-10 success.
Farrimond received 23 of the 34 votes cast by members of the Rugby League Writers and Broadcasters’ Association.
Lance Todd Trophy runner-up was centre Adam Keighran whose 20 points – from two tries and six conversions – equalled the Wembley record earned eight votes.
Forward Junior Nesemba, who was also among the try scorers, received two votes and the other went to half-back Harry Smith.
Last year’s winner was Warrington Wolves’ Marc Sneyd, despite the Wire man being on the losing end of the result, with Sneyd picking up his third Lance Todd Trophy and given Farrimond’s talent at such a young age, more could still come for the 20-year-old.
