Wigan Warriors star Junior Nsemba has revealed what he thinks he needs to improve on in order to improve as a player.
It’s quite scary to think that there is still some development in his game given how good he is currently performing, but at 21, it’s easy to forget just how young the back rower is.
After already winning a treble and a second Challenge Cup last month, the England international has already achieved some of the accolades most players dream about, but he himself believes there is still plenty more to come.
Being interviewed by Wigan legend Sam Tomkins, Nsemba reflected on Sunday’s win over Catalans Dragons, in which he scored a try and assisted another.
“Yeah, obviously it’s amazing,” said the forward. “It’s great to play with the group, and there was a great performance in France.
“Last week, doing what we did [Challenge Cup win], we wanted to back it up this week and not be a one-week, one-day [team], so I’m glad that we did that too.”
Asked how important the team felt it was to back up the win in the capital with another strong showing, he replied: “I feel like in previous years, when we win the Challenge Cup, the week after we’ve been pretty bad.
“This week, we got to focus on staying consistent with it so we can go into Wakefield next week with a good mindset.”
Tomkins then asked him if he was currently playing in his career-best form, to which he replied: “Yeah, you could say that.
“Obviously, I just need to keep doing what I’m doing, listening to Matty and the coaches, but I’m still young, so I’ve got a long time to reach my peak.”
Nsemba then revealed what he feels he needs to work on to take his game to the next level.
“Probably a better pass,” he said. “All I know is carry, carry, tackle, carry, tackle. Maybe if I can add a bit of a pass to my game, then that could just add on to something.”
