Jake Connor is playing some of the best rugby of his career at Leeds Rhinos, and it still isn’t enough to get into Shaun Wane’s England train-on squad.
It’s been a hot topic of debate all week long, and Connor was asked on Sky Sports about how he’s feeling about missing out.
Host Brian Carney quizzed the Leeds Rhinos half for his take on the situation and if he’s heard from the England boss recently.
He said: “It is what it is in my opinion. I don’t really know what to say. I’m just focusing on playing well; that’s all that I can do.
Earlier in the week, pundit Jon Wilkin stated that it could be more of a clash of personalities, and Connor added: “I don’t know, you’d have to ask him.”
He also shared that he doesn’t know the last time he spoke to Wane, so it’s not clear whether he intends to include him in future squads or not.

Carney also asked him if he still has an ambition to make the Ashes squad, and Connor was very clear that it’s still a massive aim for him.
Whilst in the studio, pundit Jon Wells and special guest Castleford Tigers boss Danny McGuire shared their thoughts that Connor is a must for the England squad.
However, all he can do is play as well as he can consistently for Leeds Rhinos and hope that it goes in his favour.
He finished: “I think it’s great playing for your country. I’ve played before, and I loved every minute of it on the biggest stage.
“There are some great players, like Mikey Lewis and George Williams. They’ve been there and done it in the big games, and hopefully, I get to some big games this year.
“I just want to keep playing well, and that’s all I can do.”
