Super League champions Hull KR have confirmed that they have loaned out one of their 2026 signings to the Championship.
Jumah Sambou, the former St Helens outside back, was signed from Oldham by Willie Peters’ side with the 24-year-old earning his debut this past weekend in the pre-season clash with Wakefield Trinity.
KR lost that game handily as they played a heavily-rotated side with Sambou one of the older players, despite having just one game of Super League experience.
He won’t make add to that tally of Super League appearances in 2026 as Hull KR have now loaned the outside back to Championship club Widnes Vikings, with the season-long loan having no recall clause.
It means Sambou will spend the entire 2026 season with Allan Coleman’s side in the Championship with the 24-year-old available for selection this weekend when Widnes take on North Wales Crusaders in their first home game of the Championship season.

Hull KR signing Jumah Sambou leaves on loan
Both Hull KR and Widnes confirmed the news of Sambou switching Craven Park for the DCBL Stadium, with the Robins wishing their player luck.
Widnes shared a lengthier statement that confirmed details of the no recall clause, whilst coach Allan Coleman also spoke about what fans can expect from Sambou.
On the recall clause situation, Widnes said: “Hull KR will NOT hold a callback clause, meaning the Vikings will be able to keep Sambou on loan for the whole season without the possibility of him being recalled.”
Coleman said: “It’s fantastic to get Jumah in. I think everyone will have seen last year before his injury, he was one of the best centres in the Championship and rightfully earned his move to Hull KR.
“He adds real power and agility to our backline, which gives us some really strong options. To get him for the full season is massive for us.”
