Hull KR confirmed the splash signing of former Leigh Leopards man Tom Amone on Tuesday night, a signing that has got fans of all clubs talking.
After announcing on Monday night that NRL recruit Jared Waerea-Hargreaves would retire at the end of his one-year deal, fans began to connect the dots that his replacement could come in the shape of the 29-year-old Amone, who had been linked with the Robins.
Amone had been released from his contract with Canterbury Bulldogs, for whom he had signed ahead of the 2025 season after earning Dream Team honours whilst at Leigh Leopards.
Despite his success in England, Amone found himself stuck in reserve grade and failed to make his NRL debut for the Bulldogs but Hull KR swept in to sign the powerhouse prop.
In a unique deal, Hull KR have signed Amone from 2026 on a three-year deal but Castleford have actually signed him for the remainder of the 2025 season with the Robins lacking the cap or quota space to do so this year. They also hope that settling him into Hull, from where he will commute to West Yorkshire, early will enhance his impact when he becomes their player in 2026.
