Hull KR rule out England international for Leeds Rhinos as three more injury worries confirmed

Hull KR could be without up to four starters on Friday night against Leeds Rhinos with head coach Willie Peters confirming a series of issues for some of his stars.

The Robins travel to Headingley to face Leeds for the first time since their mauling in Las Vegas but they may be doing so without all of Jez Litten, Sauaso Sue and Sam Luckley, whilst Peters has also effectively ruled winger Joe Burgess out.

All four are key players for the Robins so losing even just one for such a big game would be considered a major loss, however, the chance that all four miss out would be catastrophic.

Joe Burgess left the field against Leigh early in the second half whilst Litten didn’t play at all against the Leopards and when asked about the duo, Peters confirmed that Burgess likely wouldn’t play but that Litten remained a case of wait-and-see.

On Burgess, he said: “There’s a possibility he could have played this week. I don’t think he will, so we’ll give him a week and then see where it’s at after that.

“It’s not a major injury, it’s just a shoulder injury.”

As for Litten, he explained that the hooker was one of several who fell into that wait and see bracket, noting: “There’s a couple. There’s Jez, there’s Jesse Sue. Sam Luckley’s got a bit of a hamstring issue, which we need to see and get a scan on.

“There’s a few there that we’re possibly waiting on or we’ll have to make a call so that call will be made tomorrow so that we’re going into the captain’s run knowing exactly who’s fit and ready to play. What we’ll do is pick a team that can play and not worried about injuring themselves or feeling something.”

Peters would go on to reveal that the issue with Sue related to his shoulder, explaining: “He’s got a niggle but we’ll just have to see tomorrow. We’ll make a call on him tomorrow. He’s just had a shoulder, which was from last week’s game.”

There is one positive in the team news in that Oliver Gildart is available again after missing out against the Leopards due to a HIA, however, with his winger Joe Burgess out there also becomes a positional headache.

It could be that Noah Booth is the man selected to play on the wing but as for the likes of Litten, Sue and Luckley, who carry knocks, Peters explained that he isn’t intending to carry anyone with any form of issue.

He said: “I don’t want to be going with players that aren’t ready to do their job because it’s going to be a playing against a very good team and they like a physical style. So we’re going to make sure that we match that.”
