Hull KR have won a first Super League Grand Final to complete the treble and the player ratings are now in.
The Robins become the fifth side to win a Super League Grand Final and the fifth to complete the treble in the modern era, doing so with a 24-6 win at Old Trafford as they blitzed Wigan in dominant fashion.
Questions have been asked in recent weeks but they were all answered tonight as Hull KR dominated, bar the first 15 minutes, with Mikey Lewis scoring the opener shortly after Wigan went down to twelve following Brad O’Neill’s sin bin.
Joe Burgess added to that but it was Wigan who scored the next points through a penalty and then a Harry Smith try but the comeback wasn’t on as Jez Litten scored KR’s third, before Joe Burgess sealed it late on.
Mikey Lewis was named as the Man of the Match, securing the Rob Burrow award and rightfully so but there was a number of other standout Hull KR players and here are the player ratings.
Hull KR player ratings as they win first Super League Grand Final
Arthur Mourgue – 7
Had a knock on in the first half and wasn’t as involved in the attack as others but he had a generally very solid game with his carry out of yardage very strong.
Tom Davies – 7
Early knock on but made up for it with tough carries in tough places as is customary for the winger.
Peta Hiku – 7
Threatening in attack and another to make good metres.
Oliver Gildart – 8
His combinations with Joe Burgess were exceptional and he fully justified his selection.
Joe Burgess – 9
Recovered charged down kick early on which could have been dangerous and then also scored brilliantly in the corner in the first half before sealing the deal with his intercept try late on. A good reminder to Shaun Wane.
Mikey Lewis – 9
Questions were asked all week about his big game ability and those questions won’t be asked anymore. Scored the opener and then helped control the game whilst regularly threatening with his legs.
Tyrone May – 8
So often underappreciated but not tonight. A brilliant performance defensively and in the spine.
Sauaso Sue – 7
Was overshadowed by his prop partner but he was exceptional early on.
Micky McIlorum – 8
Was asked to set the tone and play the final 20 minutes of his career and whilst the Robins were under the pump during that period, you have to feel the work he did physically paid dividends in ensuring tired Wigan legs late on. Did all of that on a fractured ankle.
Jared Waerea-Hargreaves – 9
So close to a 10 in his final game. This performance alone justified signing him as he put in one of the most dominant prop performances in Grand Final history. His carry created the third try and his attitude all night carried Rovers home.
Dean Hadley – 9
If he wasn’t in the England squad before then surely Shaun Wane has put him in now. Simply everywhere all game.
James Batchelor – 9
Knock on in the first set but that was probably the only thing he did wrong all night. His pass to create Jez Litten’s try was exceptional but his performance wasn’t about that, it was about the tackles and effort for the full 80 minutes.
Elliot Minchella – 8
Went off in the second half and came back on with a vengeance. High in the tackle count despite that time off.
Interchanges
Jez Litten – 9
Changed the game when he came on and was rewarded with a try in the second half which he had helped start. Surely England’s number nine.
Jai Whitbread – 7
Came on and drained Wigan’s defence with his tough running.
Sam Luckley – 7
Recovered a ball at a vital time and was generally just very impactful.
Rhyse Martin -7
Kicked four from five and was another interchange who made his impact.
