Willie Peters has spoken on the competition for places in his Hull KR squad, confirming a loan move wouldn’t be ruled out for an eye-catching forward.
Eribe Doro has only played in spells this season but whenever he has taken to the field, he’s made a big impact and he’s always brought the intensity.
Doro is still relatively inexperienced at Super League level despite turning 24 earlier this year and those reasons would perhaps feed into the motive for a possible loan move, something that Willie Peters was asked about and stated that he would consider.
Signed from Bradford ahead of the 2025 season, Doro has seven Super League appearances to his name with just three coming for Hull KR. He’s become a regular member of the 21-man squad but has found it hard to crack the 17 consistently and Peters explained why.
The Hull KR boss said: “The thing with where Eribe is at is that this is his first year back in the Super League, this is his first proper go. I know he was at Warrington in the past and he’s showed that he can play in Championship.
“He just needs to play Super League, but unfortunately again, you can only pick 17 players. I’ve made sure that I’ve tried to give him some opportunity to play. There have been times I could have kept with the same 17, but it’s about developing him and about opportunity.”

Doro could well earn that opportunity this weekend with confirmation that James Batchelor will not play as he heads to see a specialist about a throat injury, whilst Rhyse Martin is in contention to play but isn’t certain to do so.
Ahead of the Wakefield Trinity clash on Friday night, Peters admitted: “There’s no doubt he’ll be waiting for his opportunity again and whether that’s this weekend, we’ll have to wait and see. He’s one that’s always on top of our minds.”
Having admitted that Doro needs Super League experience, Peters was asked about the prospect of loaning the 24-year-old to get him those much-needed minutes, something he said would be considered as it would be for every player.
The Australian responded: “We’ll always consider it for players because we want them playing, but then we need to make sure that we’re covered as well.”
Hull KR have just sent Danny Richardson on loan to Salford Red Devils for two weeks with the 28-year-old struggling for game time, however, Peters warned that the Robins can’t simply loan everyone out.
He explained: “You’ve got to get through training and then obviously the game that weekend and then the week after, but I’ve very rarely said no to a player that wants to go out and loan.
“There will be a time that we’ll need to go ‘it’s about us now’ and about getting the squad ready for the back end of the year, but I certainly don’t say no too often to any players that want to go out and loan.”
The deadline for Super League players making switches is the start of August meaning there are around five weeks for any loan moves to be confirmed, should Peters wish to send out Doro or any other Hull KR player for more game time.
