Hull KR without their stars but name seven signings and triallist for pre-season clash

Hull KR

Willie Peters has named his first Hull KR squad of the year with a total of seven new signings named, as well as a triallist, in a squad missing plenty of stars.

The Robins will take on Wakefield Trinity at Craven Park in the first and only pre-season game and whilst some may have expected them to go strong on account of it being their only match, Willie Peters has actually named a very inexperienced squad.

Not a single player with a starting XIII shirt is named with just Jack Broadbent (14), Karl Lawton (19) and Jordan Dezaria (20) among those with top 20 numbers.

Despite that, there is still plenty of talent as young stars such as Noah booth, Louix Gorman and Harvey Horne are all named as well as a host of signings.

Including Lawton and Dezaria, seven new signings are named in the 20-man squad with Jack Charles, Tom Whitehead, Cobie Wainhouse, Declan Murphy and Jumah Sambou all in line for a debut.

Perhaps most interesting is the fact that Jeylan Hodgson is named with Serious About Rugby League previously revealing that the Goole Vikings man was on trial with Hull KR.

He’ll now get his first chance to impress Willie Peters in a game alongside four academy talents and a reserve player, as well as recently-promoted academy player Frankie Dearlove, who represented Yorkshire in last year’s academy Origin series.

Wakefield named their side earlier in the week with Daryl Powell selecting a stronger side than what his counterpart has with the vast majority of the club’s top 17 named, including a possible debut for NRL signing Tyson Smoothy.
