Hull KR star Mikey Lewis has been named as a possible replacement option for Wests Tigers, who have been dealt the bombshell blow that 19-year-old rising star Lachlan Galvin will leave the club.
Galvin’s decision to leave Wests and test himself on the open market when free agency opens on November 1st was a major blow for Benji Marshall’s side and the split looks like it could possibly turn toxic.
Player agent Isaac Moses is at the heart of it and has been the subject of plenty of criticism, whilst some have even questioned Galvin and his loyalty given how the Tigers have helped to develop him.
Debuting as an 18-year-old in 2024, Galvin has played over 20 times already in the NRL but finds himself dropped to reserve grade after Wests confirmed that he had rejected the ‘biggest contract made to a junior in club history’.
He’s not set to leave until the end of 2026 but a list of replacements will already be getting drawn up and Hull KR star Mikey Lewis could be on that list.

That’s according to Wide World of Sports where Lewis is named as a possible option to replace Galvin following his incredible 2024 campaign.
Lewis earned Dream Team honours and was crowned Man of Steel as he helped guide the Robins to the Grand Final and such performances don’t go unnoticed. The link between Hull KR coach Willie Peters and Wests’ chief executive Shane Richardson is also noted.
Per the report, “several NRL teams have their eyes on the young playmaker” whilst it’s noted that “the Tigers will be in a great position to snare him”, however, they would have to buy out his contract.
Lewis is contracted until the end of the 2028 season and Galvin is set to leave Tigertown at the end of 2026, if not sooner, so a move would seem unlikely to be done smoothly.
One possible option who Wests could sign would be Lewis’ Hull KR playing partner Tyrone May, who looks increasingly likely to depart Craven Park with head coach Willie Peters stating his intent to play alongside his brothers.
Terrell May is already at Wests whilst Taylan, who is taking time out of the game currently, could easily be snapped up by the club given his off-contract status.

Yawn!
The Mole – a pundit for Wide World of Sport, who probably gets paid by the column inch, mentions Mikey Lewis (along with several others) as a possible replacement. That’s all it is. Of course his name will crop up because he’s a start player, but someone will report him as a possibility for every team looking for a half back.
Wests Tigers already have one of the May brothers and as their ambition to play together is well known, I’m sure their agent is already knocking on the door at Wests for Tyrone May, who’s contract ends at the end of 2025, as an ideal replacement, and Terrell is already off-contract, making that the most likely scenario.

Wests Tigers would be a poor choice of destination unless the coach is replaced. If Lewis goes to the NRL then the Raiders, Roosters, or Dolphins would be his best bet. Clubs where English players get a fair run.
