Hull KR man banned as seven charged by Super League disciplinary including Jake Connor

Super League Disciplinary: Referee Tom Grant showing Jack Brown of Hull FC the yellow card

A total of eight charges have been brought against seven players after Round Eleven of Super League with a Hull KR man being banned.

Just one yellow card was shown across the six Super League rounds with another incident placed on report and both of those incidents have seen punishment brought forward by the Match Review Panel who met this morning.

Hull KR forward Jared Waerea-Hargreaves was shown a yellow card for a high shot on Huddersfield’s Matty English which led to the Giants’ prop bleeding from the mouth and failing a Head Injury Assessment.

The fact English could not return to the action would have counted against the Kiwi, with causing injury to a player being three extra penalty points.

Those three penalty points have been added to his 12 that he received for a Grade D charge, meaning he’s been slapped with a huge 15-point penalty which carries a two-match ban and a fine.

Hull KR could appeal it but should they fail then five more points would be added to Waerea-Hargreaves record, taking him to 21 points in total for the season which would elevate it to a three-match ban, thus ruling him out of the Challenge Cup Final.

Hull KR set to lose star for two matches

Of the other seven charges, they’ve gone to just six players with Warrington Wolves’ Rodrick Tai pinged twice for two incidents that were just deemed penalties in the game. His late shot on Josh Rourke has earned him a Grade B charge worth three points. That is then halved, assuming he pays the fine, and the Grade A charge of a Dangerous Throw is added to his record meaning he escapes with just 2.5 points on his record.

Paul Vaughan was also handed a Grade A charge with the disciplinary panel judging he led with the knee, earning him one penalty point but no further action whilst two Leigh Leopards men were fined for their actions in Round Eleven of Super League.

Gareth O’Brien, who failed a HIA, has been handed a Grade B charge for head contact worth three points whilst Alec Tuitavake copped three points for dangerous contact, potentially for the crusher tackle that saw Zach Eckersley stretchered off.

Jake Connor recieved a Grade A charge for an “attempted strike” but it’s unclear if that was in reference to his alleged headbutt.

Muizz Mustapha was the other man to be charged with a Grade A charge landing for his late shot on Ryan Brierley.
