Hull KR flex muscles as Willie Peters names strong side for start of Challenge Cup defence

Hull KR head coach Willie Peters has named a very strong side as his club begin their defence of the Challenge Cup against community club Lock Lane.

Following Featherstone Rovers’ sad demise, it meant Lock Lane received a bye to the third round of the Challenge Cup and they couldn’t have asked for a better tie, drawing the reigning champions Hull KR.

An agreement between the sides has seen the game moved to Craven Park with the community club players getting a once-in-a-lifetime chance, whilst the club will also likely earn a far larger gate percentage, which will be invaluable to them.

On Friday night, they’ll attempt to land one of the biggest giant killings and Challenge Cup upsets in history, especially given the strength of the side that Willie Peters has named.

The Robins fielded a team largely comprising of youngsters and fringe players in their sole pre-season clash and that’s meant that Peters has used Friday night’s game to get minutes into many of his first-teamers.
