Hull KR cruised to a 46-0 win over Toulouse Olympique as they moved into Super League’s top six for the first time this season.
After racking up 48 points last week in the Challenge Cup, Hull KR hit 46 this week as they ran in eight tries with Joe Burgess scoring two to take him to ten for the Super League season.
Despite Burgess’ try-scoring antics, it was once again the Hull KR spine that dominated with Jez Litten and Jack Broadbent supporting the half-back pair of Tyrone May and Mikey Lewis.
Elliot Minchella got the scoring underway with Rhyse Martin and Dean Hadley scoring before the half. The second-half onslaught started early on as Joe Burgess bagged his first before Jez Litten, Peta Hiku and Jai Whitbread all scored before Burgess completed his brace.
After Hull KR’s dominant win in France, we’ve picked out all the key talking points.

Toulouse Olympique v Hull KR talking points
KR cruise into top six
After losing their first two Super League games this year, Hull KR found themselves in very unfamiliar territory near the foot of the table but four wins from their next five has seen them finally break into the play-off positions for the first time this year.
The Robins have been slowly building and they’ve now picked up four consecutive wins, scoring a combined 170 and only conceding 26 with tonight’s clean sheet sure to be what impressed Willie Peters the most.
Hull KR won their title last year on the basis of an incredible defence that was close to breaking the Super League record and after a slow start, they’re now finding that dominant streak once again.
Reality hitting for Toulouse
After winning their first two games of the season, Toulouse have now lost six in a row and this was their worst defeat of the season so far with the Olympians rarely threatening to score.
That’s understandable against a team as good as Hull KR but this run of results is starting to prove just how tough the promoted teams, particularly York and Toulouse on their reduced funding, have it. Whilst the French side did make signings, they made far less than York and Bradford and it’s starting to look as if they just don’t have the depth to compete, which is to be expected.
A crunch clash away to York Knights awaits next week but a defeat at the LNER Community Stadium would make it seven straight losses and highlight major problems for the French side.
Super League’s best hooker by far
Thursday night saw Daryl Clark named Man of the Match in the latest of a run of strong performances but Jez Litten was even better tonight, despite not earning the Man of the Match medal. The Hull KR man is firmly establishing himself as the best hooker in Super League, something he was recognised as last year with his Dream Team appearance.
His assist for Elliot Minchella came after a brilliant dart out of dummy-half whilst he also got himself a try in the second-half after a smart one-two with Mikey Lewis, however, it’s the control he offers throughout that is so impressive.
His monster kick early on forced Olly Ashall-Bott into an error and was just one example of several moments that handed Hull KR the upper hand. In a team that has former Man of Steel Mikey Lewis, Hull KR could well have a contender for this year’s award.
Peters shuffles the deck
After a dominant win in the Challenge Cup, there were not expected to be too many changes but Peters made three with captain Elliot Minchella returning, as well as recent St Helens’ loanees Bill Leyland and Jordan Dezaria.
Dezaria made his Hull KR debut whilst Leyland played the final 25 minutes after Litten’s masterclass. It meant Karl Lawton, Sam Luckley and Jack Brown all missed out with Peters’ post-match interview set to confirm if those changes were rest, rotation or injury-enforced.
Martin’s milestone
Rhyse Martin returned to the field last week for Hull KR and today saw him hit the career milestone of 1,500 points, highlighting his immense prowess as a goal-kicker. The Papua New Guinean international scored 16 points as he kicked an impressive six conversions from seven and scored a try himself.
A whopping 1,040 of those points came for Leeds Rhinos, 172 for Papua New Guinea, 114 for Canterbury Bulldogs and he now has 182 for Hull KR.
