Hull KR have been dealt an injury blow on the opening day of the Super League season this evening as a key man dropped out of the warm up.
The Robins face off against Super League new boys York Knights this evening at the LNER Community Stadium and their preparations at the ground were well underway as they went through the motions on the field.
However, Dean Hadley could be seen heading down the tunnel during the warm up and it has since been confirmed that the veteran, who was due to start the game at prop, has pulled up with an issue.
The injury saw Jack Brown promoted from 18th man to the starting XIII, with Noah Booth stepping up to the 18th man role.
The extent of the issue will be cleared up by Willie Peters after the full-time whistle at York, but with the World Club Challenge and a trip to Las Vegas on the way in the next fortnight, there could be concerns about his availability.
KR were dealt another blow when Jez Litten left the field for a HIA inside the opening minute after taking a hefty whack from Paul Vaughan in the opening tackle of the game. At the time of writing, Litten had not returned to the field.
The Robins have been boosted by Sam Luckley’s fitness, with the prop returning to full fitness in time for round one after undergoing knee surgery in the off-season. However, Tom Amone is now in a race against time to be fit for the showpiece event at the MKM Stadium after fracturing his hand.
