Hull KR forced into changes as Sam Tomkins makes return in predicted line-ups

Hull KR host Catalans Dragons on Friday night and we’ve predicted the team news with injuries and returning stars forcing changes.

It will be a homecoming for the Robins after their Challenge Cup success at Wembley and Willie Peters has reminded his players of the two points at stake, and of the trophy parade post-match,  insisting it will be “pretty sombre” if they don’t do it on the back of two points or a good performance.

A club record for home fans will be broken as well with plenty set to pack into Craven Park to celebrate the Challenge Cup success and hopefully watch another win, with the Robins losing just once all year.

Facing a struggling Catalans side could be a banana skin, especially if Hull KR have any form of Challenge Cup hangover with the rest advantage firmly in favour of the French side.

We’ve predicted how each side could line up for their Round 14 Super League clash.

How Hull KR could line up against Catalans

Willie Peters has confirmed that three players will miss out with two of those set to be on the sidelines for a few weeks. Micky McIlorum, who was rushed back for the cup final, will continue his rehab for another three weeks.

Peters also revealed that Jared Waerea-Hargreaves went into the game with a calf injury and will now be out for four weeks, whilst Joe Burgess is another who will miss out.

One man who will definitely return is Arthur Mourgue, set to face his former club after being cup-tied for Wembley. That will see Jack Broadbent shift back to centre and James Batchelor back to the second-row.

Bill Leyland will be called upon given McIlorum’s absence whilst Noah Booth could be set for his third Hull KR appearance in the outside backs. Eribe Doro didn’t make Wembley but impressed in Round 13 so could edge Jack Brown for a bench spot.

Hull KR XIII: Arthur Mourgue; Tom Davies, Peta Hiku, Jack Broadbent, Noah Booth; Mikey Lewis, Tyrone May; Sauaso Sue, Jez Litten, Jai Whitbread; Dean Hadley, James Batchelor, Elliot Minchella

Interchanges: Bill Leyland, Kelepi Tanginoa, Sam Luckley, Eribe Doro

How Catalans Dragons could line up against the Robins

It’s all quiet at Catalans despite plenty going on behind the scenes, namely the sacking of Steve McNamara which has yet to be addressed by the club. Despite that, Joel Tomkins is still in temporary charge and will look for his first win in that role.

He will have younger brother Sam available for the first time since April but with Guillermo Aispuro-Bichet flourishing of late, Tomkins might return in the halves in place of Theo Fages.

Playing Alrix Da Costa and having Benjamin Garcia as the back-up hooker would allow for Fages to be carried as a utility on the bench alongside three forwards.

Tevita Pangai Jr returns as well as Tariq Sims and Bayley Sironen with Catalans strengthened notably from their heavy loss to Hull FC.

Catalans Dragons XIII: Guillermo Aispuro-Bichet; Tommy Makinson, Arthur Romano, Reimis Smith, Nick Cotric; Luke Keary, Sam Tomkins; Tevita Pangai Jr, Alrix Da Costa, Julian Bousquet; Tariq Sims, Benjamin Garcia, Oliver Partington

Interchanges: Theo Fages, Chris Satae, Romain Navarrete, Bayley Sironen
