Hull KR boss Willie Peters was left very happy with 75% of his side’s efforts this afternoon, after defeating Bradford Bulls.
Taking home a 48-12 win, the Robins stormed to a 24-0 lead after just 15 minutes, with two tries coming for Mikey Lewis and scores also coming for Rhyse Martin and Tyrone May.
Following that though, the rest of the first half was far from ideal, with the World Champions becoming sloppy both with and without the ball.
Making a number of errors and gifting Bradford plenty of field position, KR were far from their usual standards and they allowed Bulls back into a game that looked as good as over following the first quarter.
Tries from Brandon Douglas and Greg Eden, both of which were poor from a Robins defensive point of view, reduced the deficit to 12 points, and it is that period of the game that left Peters less than impressed.
The scoreline certainly didn’t reflect the way of the game, and the Robins boss alluded to that in his post-match comments.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: We certainly didn’t [have it all our own way], and we knew Bradford would come at us today.
“I was really happy with our start, but obviously that 20-minute period in that first half, the second part of that first half, obviously we weren’t happy with it all. The players owned it at halftime, I like what they did in the second half.

Hull KR go fifth in Super League after Bradford Bulls victory
Revealing what was said in the sheds at the break, Peters explained: “We just spoke about it. We gave them the energy, we looked for offloads.
“We had a plan, and we were sticking to that, but then we sort of went away from it, trying to, I suppose create an easier option or an easier way through offloads, and put ourselves under pressure.
“The ball bounced for that second try, but that’s what happens, you create your own luck.
“Bradford stuck at it, and they put themselves in a strong position at halftime, so yeah, I’m pleased with what we did in that second half.”
Victory over thhe Bulls now puts the Robins fifth in the Super League table, and after a slow start to the Super League campaign they have definitely turned a corner over the past month or so.
Peters’ side take on Castleford Tigers next week at Craven Park, another game that Rovers will have to be fully focused in if they are to come away with the points.
“[Castleford] obviously didn’t play so well last night, but they were great the week before, so we know, what ‘Cas’ team will be turning up this Thursday, so we need to make sure that we fix that 20-minute period and get ourselves ready for next Thursday,” the boss said.
