Hull KR and Catalans Dragons among sides sweating Super League disciplinary

A handful of Super League clubs, including Hull KR and Catalans Dragons, will be sweating today’s disciplinary verdict.

The Match Review Panel will meet and hand down judgement on the back of the events of Round 14 and several incidents are far easier to pick out than others.

Last week saw Hull KR forward Sauaso Sue handed a Grade E charge which he and the club successfuly defended at an Operational Rules Tribunal, whilst the Robins saw two further players charged in Joe Burgess and James Batchelor.

Charges will almost certainly be handed to players from Hull KR’s huge 68-6 win over Catalans Dragons, with the only cards of the round shown to players from the losing side.

However, Willie Peters will be hoping that none of his players are charged after a melee occurred in the first half. We’ve taken a look at some of the incidents from Super League Round 14 that the Match Review Panel could be looking at and who could be sweating today’s disciplinary verdict.

Who will be sweating the Super League disciplinary verdict?

Benjamin Garcia is the most obvious man to be worrying about today with the Catalans captain sent off for punching as he lost his head in a very uncharacteristic manner.

Shoving Elliot Minchella with an open palm in the throat to begin with, he then took aim at the Hull KR players who piled in to defend their captain as Garcia launched multiple punches. Thankfully for him and the KR players, none landed but it would be no surprise to see the Frenchman head straight to an Operational Rules Tribunal on a charge of Grade E or higher.

Minchella was the man who copped the first shot but he had taken a swipe at Oliver Partington at the play the ball and then barged into Garcia as well, things you see quite often but given what they instigated the Match Review Panel could take a look.

Any nunber of players who steamed in to the melee could be investigated but another man sure to be looked at if Franck Maria who was sin binned earlier in the game for his high shot on Sausaso Sue.

Reimis Smith had seen one go unpunished as well whilst in other games, Tiaki Chan appeared to move George Whitby as he lay prone on the floor which is something players have been told not to do in fear of causing further injury.
