Hull FC youngster joins Championship on loan as former Leeds Rhinos player signs permanent deal

Hull FC youngster Will Kirby has secured a loan move to Championship side Hunslet for the rest of the 2025 season.

The second-rower made his senior debut for the Black and White back in July 2024 against Salford Red Devils and now heads out to Hunslet for some much-needed game time and experience in the Championship.

He will join fellow Hull FC youngster Ryan Westerman at the West Yorkshire side as the club looks to get off the bottom of the Championship table.

The club also announced that former Leeds Rhinos youngster Mason Corbett has signed for the club following his release from fellow Championship side Bradford Bulls.

Corbett moved to the Bulls in the off-season following his release from Leeds and has spent time this season on loan at Hunslet, prior to his permanent move.

Speaking on the Championship club’s website, Hunslet head coach Dean Muir said: “To get Mason on board for the rest of the season and committed to 2026 was important. He’s a good person who trains hard.

“He wants to get better every session and has a seriousness to his training, which we need. I’m looking forward to working with him and seeing him develop in our environment.

“Will Kirby is a strong, aggressive back rower who has played in Super League. He adds depth to our edges and brings punch and a big carry.”

Director of Rugby Darren Higgins added: “These two additions to the squad help add both quality and depth to our squad as we approach the second half of the season.

“This depth will help add competition for places, which in turn will help raise standards in training.”

Both Kirby and Corbett could make their Hunslet debuts against Featherstone Rovers on 15th June.
