Hull FC host Wigan Warriors in the final game of Round Nine of Super League on Sunday, a game that will officially mark one third of the regular season as completed.
So far, it’s been a surprising first eight games for Hull FC with John Cartwright turning their fortunes around massively as last year’s Super League strugglers look to be one of the competition’s better sides.
The Black and Whites sit fourth in the table but a win would see them leapfrog Wigan, however, that’s no easy feat considering the number of key players that John Cartwright doesn’t have available.
As for Wigan, they’ll be without a number of key men as well with last week seeing both Patrick Mago (hamstring) and Tyler Dupree (HIA) ruled out for this weekend’s clash.
There are some welcome returns though for Matt Peet with both Hull FC and Wigan Warriors confirming their 21-man squads for Sunday’s fixture.
Hull FC team news
Cade Cust escaped a ban so he is available but another of Hull’s star signings is not as John Cartwright confirmed that Jordan Rapana is set for two to four weeks out with a groin injury.
Rapana missing out is one of two changes with Sam Eseh (unable to face his parent club) also dropping out as Harvey Barron and Will Gardiner both return. That means Ed Chamberlain is named despite doubts over whether he will play due to a shoulder injury.
The Black and Whites are still without Ligi Sao (knee), Jordan Lane (arm) Jed Cartwright (hamstring), Oliver Holmes (knee), Brad Fash (calf), Ryan Westerman (ankle) and, Liam Watts (calf).
Hull FC 21-man squad: 2 – Harvey Barron, 3 – Zak Hardaker, 4 – Ed Chamberlain, 5 – Tom Briscoe, 6 – Will Pryce, 7 – Aidan Sezer, 8 – Herman Ese’ese, 9 – Amir Bourouh, 13 – John Asiata, 14 – Cade Cust, 16 – Yusuf Aydin, 17 – Jack Ashworth, 20 – Davy Litten, 21 – Will Gardiner, 22 – Lewis Martin, 23 – Logan Moy, 25 – Denive Balmforth, 27 – Matty Laidlaw, 30 – Callum Kemp, 32 – Will Kirby, 40 – Liam Knight

Wigan Warriors team news
With both Mago and Dupree dropping out, Matt Peet brings back two huge names as Luke Thompson (calf) and Adam Keighran (MCL) return in massive boosts.
There had been concerns how Wigan would line up in the props without Dupree and Mago, as well as the injuries to the likes of Havard and Thompson, but the England international’s return is a timely one.
Keighran’s return could see Zach Eckersley drop out although it would be harsh on the youngster who has fared well in the centre’s absence.
Wigan Warriors 21-man squad: 1 – Jai Field, 2 – Abbas Miski, 3 – Adam Keighran, 4 – Jake Wardle, 5 – Liam Marshall, 6 – Bevan French, 7 – Harry Smith, 9 – Brad O’Neill, 10 – Luke Thompson, 11 – Junior Nsemba, 12 – Liam Farrell, 13 – Kaide Ellis, 16 – Liam Byrne, 17 – Kruise Leeeming, 20 – Harvie Hill, 21 – Sam Walters, 22 – Zach Eckersley, 23 – Tom Forber, 24 – Jack Farrimond, 26 – Jacob Douglas, 29 – Taylor Kerr
