A minimum of five Super League players will be under the disciplinary microscope this week following Rivals Round.
Given the nature of the games played in round eight, with a number of the sport’s major derbies taking place across the competition, the referees were always going to be kept busy.
The Hull derby between Hull KR and Hull FC was a feisty contest, with east and west putting it all on the line for bragging rights for the second time in a month. KR were the victors once more at the MKM Stadium, but they didn’t didn’t have it all their own way against a spirited FC side.
Wigan Warriors moved up to second in the table as they beat St Helens at the Brick Community Stadium, while Wakefield Trinity came from behind to see off Castleford Tigers at Belle Vue.
Leigh Leopards edged out Warrington Wolves to pile misery on their north west neighbours, while Catalans Dragons and Leeds Rhinos claimed comfortable wins over Salford Red Devils and Huddersfield Giants respectively.
There was a couple of yellow cards dished out over the weekend, while Cade Cust became the first player to be sent off this season for his horrible-looking hit on on Arthur Mourgue.
Here, we look at the Super League players will be nervously waiting for the disciplinary verdict to be released.
Super League players sweating disciplinary after Rivals Round
As mentioned above, Cust was shown a red card after his shoulder to head contact with Arthur Mourgue. The half-back will hope the panel see mitigating circumstances in that he was chasing a kick and competing for the ball, but the collision was a bad one and Cust may well be fearing more than just a slap on the wrist.

Hull will be concerned about John Asiata, too, following his late hit on Mikey Lewis in the second half of the derby contest. Asiata left Lewis in a crumbled heap following a kick to the corner and disciplinary points have been handed out for those sort of offences this season.
There might just be some nervousness at Craven Park, too, with Jared Waerea-Hargreaves seemingly under the spotlight following accusations of striking. Videos have emerged online of the melee that followed Cust’s hit on Mourgue, with Waerea-Hargreaves getting involved with Asiata. What actually happens is unclear but the incident will no doubt be looked at closely and in more detail to determine if anyone did overstep the mark.
Moses Mbye was sin-binned for a high tackle just before the break in the clash between St Helens and Wigan and Sam Walters met the same fate shortly after the restart for a similar offence.
Elsewhere, Leigh Leopards Edwin Ipape was put on report for a suspected hip drop tackle.
