Hull FC v Wakefield Trinity team news as three changes made for key play-off clash

Hull FC host Wakefield Trinity on Thursday night in a battle between two Super League play-off hopefuls and the team news is in.

It seems likely that at least one of these teams will miss out on the top six and currently, it’s Hull FC with their loss to St Helens and Wakefield’s win over Catalans seeing the sides swap places on Saturday.

Daryl Powell’s side moved back into the top six but they’re only one point ahead of Hull FC, albeit with a far easier final ten games of the campaign.

Another key issue for Hull FC is that they have gone almost a year without a win at home and seven of their final ten games are at home, so ending that run with a win over a top six rival would kickstart their push for the play-offs.

Both coaches have now named their 21-man squads for Thursday night’s match with some key players missing out.

Both Brad Fash and Jed Cartwright looked to pick up injuries against St Helens but John Cartwright confirmed the pair as fine in Monday’s press conference and they’re both named to the 21-man squad.

John Cartwright makes just one change as Will Hutchinson joins the squad in place of Will Gardiner, but a number of key men still remain missing with Will Pryce and John Asiata chief among those.

Others include Ligi Sao (knee), Jordan Lane (arm), and Liam Watts (knee).

Wakefield Trinity team news

Trinity saw Mike McMeeken and Caleb Hamlin-Uele return last week and the prop pair are named once again after coming through their victory over Catalans without injury.

Daryl Powell makes just two changes to his side with Oliver Pratt and Jack Croft dropping out of the 21-man squad as Oliver Russell and Ellis Lingard return.

That would likely see Cam Scott and Corey Hall as the starting centres whilst the return of Russell is a major boost given the fact Jake Trueman is currently out injured.
