Hull FC v St Helens predicted teams as key men set to return for both sides

Hull FC boss John Cartwright talks to Sky Sports

For the first time this season, Hull FC and St Helens face off this afternoon in round 17 of Super League.

Hull will want to put in a much-improved showing after last week’s defeat to Warrington Wolves, where they were outplayed in every area.

The visiting side have won three games on the bounce, two of which were against Salford Red Devils and then a victory over Leeds Rhinos, arguably one of their best performances of the season.

Saints sit in fifth place in the league, with Hull FC behind them in sixth, but there is a three-point gap between the two sides.

Whilst two points for Hull wouldn’t be enough to move, a win would significantly bolster their hopes of claiming a play-off spot.

A win for St Helens would see them move up to third due to their superior points difference over current third-placed Leeds Rhinos, who play Hull KR on Sunday.

Following the 21-man squad release during the week, here’s how Hull FC and St Helens could line up on Saturday afternoon.

Hull FC predicted line-up

With just one change to the squad, it’s unlikely that coach John Cartwright will make many changes.

Whilst Jordan Rapana’s performances haven’t been quite up to par in recent weeks, there’s only a slim chance that he would be replaced.

However, Logan Moy is named in the squad again, so he could potentially take his spot.

The only change will probably be on the bench, with the return of Jed Cartwright, who’s been out since March with a hamstring injury.

He could replace Brad Fash, who has had his game time limited in 2025.

Hull FC predicted XIII: Jordan Rapana, Harvey Barron, Tom Briscoe, Davy Litten, Lewis Martin, Cade Cust, Aidan Sezer, Herman Ese’ese, Amir Bourouh, Liam Knight, Zak Hardaker, Ed Chamberlain, Yusuf Aydin.

Interchanges: Jed Cartwright, Jack Ashworth, Jack Charles, Sam Eseh.

St Helens predicted line-up

With the return of second-rower Curtis Sironen, he should go straight back into the starting line-up.

He missed last week’s victory over Salford Red Devils with a back issue but is included in the 21-man squad this week.

Jake Wingfield would drop to the bench, with Noah Stephens missing out.

George Whitby was named as the 18th man against Salford but was named to play for the reserves on Friday night.

That would mean Moses Mbye will be the starter in the halves with Jake Burns possibly on the bench as the utility.

St Helens predicted XIII: Tristan Sailor, Kyle Feldt, Harry Robertson, Deon Cross, Owen Dagnall, Jonny Lomax, Moses Mbye, Alex Walmsley, Daryl Clark, Matty Lees, Curtis Sironen, Matt Whitley, Morgan Knowles.

Interchanges: Jake Burns, Agnatius Paasi, Jake Wingfield, George Delaney.
