Hull FC v Huddersfield Giants team news with John Cartwright facing late calls

Hull FC

John Cartwright and Luke Robinson have made two changes each to their respective Hull FC and Huddersfield Giants squads. The two sides go head to head at Magic Weekend on Sunday afternoon, with the contest getting the second and final day of the event underway.

Cartwright confirmed in his press conference on Thursday that Jordan Rapana had taken part in light training this week. However, while he has been named in the 21-man squad, it remains to be seen if he will be passed fit to play at St James’ Park as he bids to overcome a groin injury.

The same can be said for Herman Ese’ese, who picked up a sternum problem last week against Wigan Warriors. The prop has been in light training but needs to partake in full contact this week in order to prove his fitness to the head coach.

Sam Eseh joins Rapana in coming into the squad after being ineligible to feature last time out against his parent club. Will Gardiner and Callum Kemp drop out of the fold.

Huddersfield have been boosted by the return of Adam Clune from a hamstring injury. The half-back has played just one game this season, with fitness issues severely limiting his progress in claret and gold.

However, his return is a big boost for the Giants, with their treatment room starting to clear out. Darius Carter is the other man to come in, with Archie Sykes and Elliot Wallis dropping out. The latter has joined Leeds Rhinos on loan for a month.
