Hull FC provide full injury update as key man set to miss three months of action

Hull FC have provided an injury update on a number of their injured stars, including back rower Jed Cartwright.

Cartwright, who is the son of boss John, left the field in the club’s defeat to York Knights, and later scan results have confirmed that he has suffered a torn hamstring.

The 29-year-old is set to miss the next 12 weeks, as his torrid injury luck continues.

Fellow back rower Joe Batchelor picked up injury in defeat to Wigan Warriors. The former Saints man will be missing for the next month, after results showed that the ex-England international suffered a calf tear.

Like Cartwright, winger Harvey Barron left the field in the York game, and FC have now confirmed that he has picked up an ankle injury that will also keep him sidelined for the next month.

Elsewhere, star full-back Will Pryce and youngster Joe Ward have both undergone successful surgeries on their ACL injuries. Pryce suffered his in defeat to the Warriors, whilst Ward left the field in agony during the pre-season game against Huddersfield Giants.

Another academy product, Ryan Westerman is closing in on full fitness after an ankle injury in the pre-season, whilst Roman Dawson has returned to full training following his knee issue.

Overseas enforcer Herman Ese’ese is still recovering from an Achilles injury suffered in August last year, and the club have confirmed that he is set to return to full training towards the end of April.

In what is a huge boost, however, the Black and Whites have welcomed back both John Asiata and James Bell to the side in recent weeks, after the pair missed the start of the season due to injury.
