Ahead of their Good Friday derby with Hull KR, Hull FC have allowed two of their emerging players to head on loan to the Championship.
Following two immediate retirements within the squad, Hunslet RLFC were left in search of players, be that in the short-term or long-term, and the Black and Whites have answered their call.
John Cartwright has sent duo Will Kirby and Joe Phillips to the Parksiders in a move the suits all parties involded.
Kirby has featured in all of the club’s reserves matches so far and was part of the pre-season defeat to Huddersfield Giants in January.
Phillips signed in the off-season from Goole Vikings, but is yet to make his first-team debut. He has also appeared in the reserve grade, but this week the pair will have a chance to step up their development as they take on higher-level opposition.
Kirby and Phillips will link up with Kyle Trout’s side for this week’s game against Keighley Cougars, and they also have Bradford Bulls youngster Alfie Leake in their side, too.
Former Bulls man Jaden Barraclough is on trial with the club, whilst the likes of Eddie Battye and Lee Gaskell provide a wealth of Super League experience.
