A Hull FC forward who is currently out on loan in Super League has seen his deal extended for the remainder of the 2025 season.
Hooker Denive Balmforth has played four games whilst on loan with Catalans Dragons and the French club have now confirmed that the initial month-long deal has been extended for the remainder of the season.
It’s a huge boost for both Catalans and Balmforth, who had found game time hard to come by at the MKM Stadium in 2025.
The 21-year-old burst onto the scene in 2024 as he was one of several young talents blooded in what was a torrid season for both form and injuries.
Balmforth debuted for the Black and Whites in 2022, playing four times, but last year saw him get 15 games under his belt. He’s played just nine times in 2025 with new additions Amir Bourouh and Cade Cust both taking minutes away, whilst half-back Jack Charles has also been deployed at hooker.
That saw Balmforth sent out on loan and it’s now been confirmed that deal has been extended.
Hull FC hooker Denive Balmforth sees Catalans’ loan extended
Announcing the news of Balmforth’s extended loan, Catalans confirmed: Catalans Dragons and Hull FC have reached an agreement to extend Denive Balmforth’s loan until the end of the season.
“The 21-year-old hooker initially joined the club on a one-month loan deal in June and has made a strong impression since making his debut for the Dragons.
“He made 4 appearances for the club so far, scoring a brace against Warrington.”
Balmforth signed a three-year deal with Hull FC earlier in the year so his long-term future is certainly in West Hull but he’ll earn valuable minutes in the South of France for the final eight rounds of the current season.
Speaking at the time of that deal, Balmforth said: “I’m absolutely made up to be staying at Hull for another three years.
“The club are building something special on and off the pitch. To be given the opportunity to play a part in that means the world to me.
“Obviously I’m from Leeds, but Hull has become my second home. I can’t wait to keep building with this group of lads and continue making special memories here.”
