Full-back Logan Moy had yet another strong performance for Hull FC with the 20-year-old’s latest performance perhaps the sign that incoming coach Steve McNamara could have a headache in 2027.
Moy will turn 21 in August but he’s one of many among the crop of young talents at Hull FC who were thrust in among the mayhem of 2024 and after some time out on loan in 2025, injuries have brought him to the fore again in 2026.
Nine appearances in 2026 have seen Moy improve from game to game with Saturday’s showing against Huddersfield Giants seeing him run for over 210 metres on 23 carries with an impressive four tackle busts in a display that also saw him score one and create another.
Speaking post-match in his presser that was uploaded to the Hull FC YouTube channel, Andy Last raved about the 20-year-old as he said: “Logan today was outstanding. Every time a ball went up, he commanded that area and came down with some brilliant catches.
“His timing on the catches was exceptional, then he challenged the big blokes down the middle of the field with his speed and his agility. He’s getting more and more confident and he’s looking better for the minutes, so I’m real pleased for him because he’s a good kid.
“He hasn’t had a real easy path to the first team. He’s been in then he’s been out but he’s made that position his own and I’m really pleased that he’s grabbed that shirt with both hands and he’s taken his opportunity.”

What the 2027 Hull FC full-back room could look like
Last’s final comments on Moy highlight what is the crux of the problem in that Moy is thriving when opportunity arises but in 2027, his opportunities could be limited.
First-choice full-back Will Pryce will return next year after suffering a season-ending injury early on in this campaign, whilst it’s reported that Hull FC have signed Leigh Leopards full-back Bailey Hodgson for 2027 as well.
Nothing official has been confirmed on the move for Hodgson, who can also play centre, but it’s fair to say that the path to playing time is already stacking up for Moy, who could face yet another difficult season where he is in and out of the side, something that isn’t going to harness his talent and development.
Will Pryce could be relocated to play in the halves with talk circulating that Aidan Sezer is being offered to rival clubs so that could eliminate one player ahead of Moy on the depth chart but it would still leave Bailey Hodgson, if he is to sign.
Making Moy’s game time in 2027 even more important is that he is off-contract at the end of the 2027 season so should he feel stuck behind two star players then he may well take his talents elsewhere, which would be a travesty for the Black and Whites who have invested so much time into the young back.
Steve McNamara is sure to have plenty of calls to make when he starts in his new role come the end of the season but working out how to get the best from his young full-back will be among the key dilemmas he faces.
