Hull FC have sent forward Matty Laidlaw out on loan to Championship side Hunslet with the 22-year-old set for some valuable playing time in the Championship.
Laidlaw, who came through the Hull FC system and would represent Yorkshire in the Academy Origin series in 2022, first debuted for the Black and Whites that year as an 18-year-old.
Now 22, the forward has made a total of 29 appearances for Hull FC, including six this season, but he’s now heading out on loan to the Championship.
Despite not playing for the Black and Whites since the round 16 loss to Wigan back in late June, Laidlaw has continued to feature in the club’s 21-man squads.
However, he would drop out of that 21-man squad this week with Yusuf Aydin returning in his place after undergoing HIA protocols, and now Laidlaw has made a loan move away.

Championship side Hunslet have confirmed that they have signed the forward on a loan deal though there’s no mention of the length of it, which would suggest it may be a rolling one-week loan.
Hunslet are a club that Laidlaw is familiar with as he represented the Yorkshire club back in March and now makes his return as the Championship season winds down.
The Parksiders currently sit in 17th and whilst they mathematically can make the top 10 and earn a place in the play-offs, they face a tough task as they would likely need to win all four remaining fixtures and hope that those above them don’t rack up too many points.
Hunslet take on Dewsbury Rams on the road this weekend with Laidlaw expected to play, whilst they then also face Keighley, Sheffield and Rochdale in their final three matches, all of whom sit ahead of them on the Championship ladder.
