Hull FC dealt huge boost as outside back signs new deal

Hull FC have moved to wrap up the future of young centre Davy Litten for another couple of years.

Litten’s contract with the Black and Whites was due to expire at the end of next season, but he has now agreed an extension that sees Hull secure his services until the end of the 2028 Super League season.

The centre is one of the brightest young players at the club and his new contract reflects that as he works his way towards becoming a key member of John Cartwright’s FC line up. Litten missed the start of this season with a knee injury but he has started the club’s last five games in the backline with a try coming in the win over Warrington Wolves last month.

And, the Hull-born outside back, looks set to play a key role at Magic Weekend on Sunday when the Airlie Birds face off against Huddersfield Giants.

Litten emerged through the club’s Sports College before being invited to join up with the FC first-team in 2021 as a teenager. He made his debut for the Black and Whites in 2022 and as it stands he has now made 39 appearances for the club, scoring nine tries along the way.

He’s always been highly thought of at the MKM Stadium and speaking in his final interview as a Hull player last season, Carlos Tuimavave tipped Litten to play for England one day. Chief executive Richie Myler has now spoken of his delight to secure him for another two years.

Hull FC CEO Richie Myler on Davy Litten

“You’ll do well to find a more enthusiastic and energetic individual than Davy and we’re lucky to have him here at Hull FC. The energy that he brings is infectious, both on and off the field,” Myler said.

“The thing that excites me about Davy is how much more development he’s still got in him.

“He’s got a big frame and I’d expect him to continue filling that out, which will make him an even bigger threat in our back line when you take into account his athletic ability and skill level.

“I know a lot of Hull fans enjoy watching him play and we’re all thrilled that he’s agreed to stay with the club for a further two years.”

Speaking about his new deal, Litten said: “I love everything about this club and it’s a real privilege to be staying around for an extra couple of years.

“Playing rugby league is the best job in the world and it makes it even better to play for my boyhood club that I grew up supporting.

“It’s definitely an exciting time to be a Hull FC player at the moment and I think I share everyone’s enthusiasm about what the next few years has to offer.”
