Hull FC confirm John Asiata diagnosis and signing’s long-term blow in key injury update

Hull FC have shared a comprehensive injury update on 12 players with bad news shared about loose forward John Asiata, who looks set for another lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Asiata is not the only player expected to be out for a while with off-season signing Arthur Romano reported to be out for ‘several months’ following the ankle injury he picked up late on in the derby day loss to Hull KR.

That was a more definitive timeline that what was offered regarding Asiata, who went down with a hamstring injury and had to be helped from the field against Hull KR.

The update issued from Hull FC simply confirmed that it was in fact a hamstring tear, adding: “While a full recovery timescale is yet to be determined, the loose forward is expected to be sidelined for a prolonged period.”

That’s a devastating loss for the Black and Whites who look infinitely better in attack when the loose forward is on the pitch.

Hull FC share comprehensive injury update

As well as the updates on Romano and Asiata, Hull FC shared news on ten more players including Will Pryce and Joe Ward with the club confirming that the pair are continuing to recover from season-ending ACL injuries.

Winger Harvey Barron is not expected to return until early May with his ankle ligament issue still causing problems, whilst Jake Arthur (calf) and Herman Ese’ese (Achilles) are also ‘aiming to return to action at the start of next month’.

Second-rower Jed Cartwright (hamstring) is six weeks away from a return whilst Joe Batchelor, who picked up a back strain in the loss to Hull KR, should be available for Round Nine against Castleford Tigers.

Both Yusuf Aydin (ankle) and Brad Fash (HIA) are expected to return next week against St Helens whilst off-season signing Joe Phillips is still awaiting an assessment after aggravating a fibula stress fracture.
