Hull FC have confirmed the signing of Hull-born Bailey Hodgson with the full-back to make the switch to the MKM Stadium for the 2027 season.
Hodgson, the nephew of former England international and Hull KR star Josh, was born and bred in Hull and he has now signed for FC, as previously reported by Serious About Rugby League.
The news of Hodgson signing for the Black and Whites emerged earlier in the season, though club CEO Richie Myler refused to comment, however, it’s now been confirmed that Hodgson inking a two-year deal to join the club.
He becomes their first signing ahead of 2027 in what will surely be a busy recruitment period given the gaps in the squad, with Hodgson’s arrival likely to move Will Pryce into the halves.
Hodgson becomes the latest player to make the move from Leigh to Hull FC, following the likes of John Asiata, Zak Hardaker and Oliver Holmes, though unlike that trio Hodgson still has his best years ahead of him with the full-back still only 23.
Confirming his signing, a club statement read: “Hull FC are delighted to announce the signing of exciting full-back Bailey Hodgson for the 2027 Betfred Super League.
“The 23-year-old will make the return to his city of birth, joining the Black & Whites on a two-year deal that will keep him at the MKM Stadium until the end of the 2028 campaign.”

Hull FC sign Bailey Hodgson for 2027 season
Currently out injured with an elbow infection, Hodgson’s next game may well be in a Hull FC shirt though Leigh boss Adrian Lam has teased that a return could be possible in 2026 if everything aligns.
Hodgson debuted in Super League with Castleford Tigers before making the move down under ahead of his return via Leigh, but the versatile back will now get to call his hometown club his own team.
Speaking on the move, Hodgson said: “I feel like it’s a really exciting time and I can’t wait for the opportunity.
“I know the team have been struggling on the field this year, but off the field Hull are doing so many things well. I’m excited to work with Steve McNamara in 2027, a coach who I massively respect.
“It always means a lot more when you get the opportunity to sign for your hometown club and it’s something that I’m very excited about.”
CEO Richie Myler commented: “Bailey was one of our priorities for 2027. He’s a young player with genuine Super League quality, he’s proven he can perform at this level and, importantly, we believe his best years are still ahead of him.
“As a Hull lad, he understands what this club means to the city. He’s joining because he wants to be part of what we’re building under Steve McNamara, and we’re delighted to have secured him.
“We’re continuing to work hard on the playing group for 2027 and Bailey is exactly the type of player we want to bring into Hull FC as we move the club forward.”
