Andy Last has paid tribute to the Hull FC supporters who were able to witness just a first win in eight and only a third in 14 games since he took interim charge of the club.
It was actually only a sixth win of the Super League season as Hull FC beat a dire St Helens 32-18 in a game that lacked quality, however, it was Hull FC who showcased the most effort and execution as they ran in six tries.
Having lost seven in a row prior to the game, there was understandable celebrations from the Hull FC players and strong travelling support and that travelling support was thanked post-match when Andy Last spoke to Sky Sports.
Offering his verdict, he said: “It feels absolutely fantastic. Nice to obviously win a trophy as well, the Steve Prescott trophy, someone I played with and someone I hold in such high regard.
“It was nice to obviously get that win tonight and then just from a support point of view, I just want to dedicate that to the supporters obviously who’ve come tonight and obviously the supporters who’ve stood by us.
“They’ve been turning up in big numbers. It was great to absolutely get a win for them.”

Hull FC boss unwilling to speculate on Litten reports
Despite the win, Last did still note issues to improve upon, stating: “There was some parts of the performance that I’m really pleased with and then there’s still some areas that we have to improve, individuals and decision-making but I’m not going to take anything away from tonight.
“To get a win at St Helens, I’m really, really pleased.”
Harvey Barron scored a first senior hat-trick with the winger another who came in for praise, as Last said: “He’s carrying the ball really well out of backfield and playing strong and that’s what you want from your wingers, finishing off their opportunities that the half-backs create for them.”
Barron is one of several talented young homegrown outside backs and another of those, Davy Litten, is reportedly the subject of a £100,000 bid from Wakefield Trinity, which has been accepted per those reports.
Asked about that and the prospect of Litten leaving, Last said: “I don’t want to speculate. There’s rumours flying around that and when there’s something like this to be announced, I’m sure the club will announce it.”
He wrapped up by again thanking the fans, stating: “I’m a proud interim, yeah. Nice to get two points. Again, I just want to say thanks to the supporters for sticking by us.”
