Huddersfield Giants v Wigan Warriors team news with massive halfback call for Warriors

The first of two Super League games on Saturday kicks off at 3:00pm, and the team news for Huddersfield Giants v Wigan Warriors is in.

With both sides sitting out last week due to the Challenge Cup final, both will be eager to get the second half of the season underway.

The home side had a narrow loss last time out, losing 28-24 away at Leigh Leopards. With Castleford Tigers’ victory over Hull FC on Friday night, the Giants now face a six-point gap above them as they sit in 11th.

Wigan beat Salford Red Devils 46-6 at the end of May and will be looking to close the four-point gap to Hull KR, who remain top of the league.

The team news for Huddersfield Giants v Wigan Warriors is now in, and here’s how both sides line up for the Saturday afternoon fixture.

Giants head coach Luke Robinson has been forced into a change across the backline, with Adam Swift ruled out for the foreseeable future with a calf injury. Jacob Gagai returns to the side in his absence, partnering Taane Milne on the right. Sam Halsall and Jake Bibby continue down the left.

Robinson has also made two changes in the forward pack. Oliver Wilson comes into the starting line-up at prop with George King moving to the bench.

Sam Hewitt returns to the side after missing their last match against Leigh Leopards. Harry Rushton misses out.

Wigan boss Matt Peet has made a big call in the halves. Bevan French misses out, and Peet has stuck with Jack Farrimond and Harry Smith at halfback.

French featured from the bench last time out against Salford Red Devils but fails to make the matchday squad this week.

Jake Wardle is back in the centres, meaning Jacob Douglas drops out of the side. Wardle partners Liam Marshall, whilst Zach Eckersley and Adam Keighran start down the right. Marshall makes his 200th Wigan appearance in the game.

There are also a number of changes in the pack with Ethan Havard moving from the second row back to his favoured prop position, Liam Farrell returns in the second row, and Tyler Dupree drops to the bench.

Kruise Leeming also returns to the side and will start on the bench.
