Huddersfield Giants v Hull FC predicted teams as key spine decisions to be made for both sides

Huddersfield Giants v Hull FC as Jordan Rapana set to return

Game one of day two at Magic Weekend sees Huddersfield Giants versus Hull FC and we’ve predicted how each side could line up, with key players returning for both sides.

Huddersfield welcome back Adam Clune into the halves as a much-needed boost to their line-up. With just one appearance in 2025, Clune should be the first of several Giants players set to return to the side in the coming weeks.

Hull FC have injury doubts over Jordan Rapana and Herman Ese’ese as they face late fitness tests to make it to the matchday squad. Both have taken part in light training this week but will be pushing to make it for Sunday.

Both Huddersfield Giants and Hull FC coaches Luke Robinson and John Cartwright have decisions to make in key positions and here’s how we predict they’ll line up, following their 21-man squad announcements.

How Huddersfield Giants could line up against Hull FC

With Adam Clune’s return, he should slot straight into the halves alongside George Flanagan. Flanagan has stepped up in recent weeks alongside various different halfback partners but alongside Clune, he should be able to focus more on his running game whilst Clune controls the kicking game.

Coach Luke Robinson could name a relatively similar side to last week’s game against Castleford Tigers as they came out of the game pretty unscathed for a change.

They could name the same back five, with Jacob Gagai continuing at fullback, Adam Swift and Connor Carr remaining on the wings and Jake Bibby and Sam Halsall in the centres.

With Zac Woolford returning last week, he might move from the interchange bench to start at hooker, with Ashton Golding moving the other way.

Huddersfield’s forward line looks set to retain their spots but Matty English potentially switch with Oliver Wilson or Tom Burgess for a starting spot.

Veteran Leroy Cudjoe should stay in the loose forward position as the Giants hope to start turning their 2025 season hopes around soon.

Predicted Huddersfield Giants XIII: Jacob Gagai, Adam Swift, Jake Bibby, Sam Halsall, Connor Carr, George Flanagan, Adam Clune, Oliver Wilson, Zac Woolford, Tom Burgess, Sam Hewitt, Joe Greenwood, Leroy Cudjoe.

Predicted interchanges: Ashton Golding, Matty English, Taane Milne, Jack Bibby.

How Hull FC could line up against Huddersfield Giants

Hull FC coach John Cartwright is giving late fitness tests to Jordan Rapana and Herman Ese’ese and assuming they both pass, they’ll both be in the starting line-ups.
Rapana should return to the fullback spot. Will Pryce will make a move back to the halves alongside Aidan Sezer and Cade Cust may move to the bench. If Rapana isn’t at 100%, Pryce will slot back into fullback and Cust will move into the halves.
Cartwright should start the same wingers and centres to the side that lost to Wigan Warriors last weekend. Youngsters Harvey Barron and Lewis Martin remain on the wing with Tom Briscoe and Davy Litten in the centres, the latter celebrating a contract extension during the week.
Ese’ese and Liam Knight look set to be the starting props alongside Amir Bourouh at hooker. The trio have all started 2025 in strong fashion and will hope to continue that form into Magic Weekend.
Zak Hardaker should continue to deputise in the second row with Jack Ashworth and John Asiata stays at loose forward.
Predicted Hull FC XIII: Jordan Rapana, Harvey Barron, Davy Litten, Tom Briscoe, Lewis Martin, Will Pryce, Aidan Sezer, Herman Ese’ese, Amir Bourouh, Liam Knight, Zak Hardaker, Jack Ashworth, John Asiata.

Predicted interchanges: Ed Chamberlain, Cade Cust, Yusuf Aydin, Sam Eseh.
