Huddersfield Giants have confirmed another major injury blow with star man Adam Clune ruled out for a minimum of three months.
Clune limped off before half time in the Giants’ loss to Warrington Wolves in round ten of Super League and scans have now revealed the extent of that hamstring injury.
A club statement has confirmed that the Australian is set to be miss the next 12-16 weeks, putting his possible return date at early August in the best circumstances or early September if he returns at the latter end of the timescale.
Of course, the regular season finishes in September so even if Clune does return at the early end of that timescale, he will have missed the majority of the season with the playmaker missing several of the opening rounds as well.
Confirming the news of their captain’s injury, Huddersfield released a statement that read: “Adam Clune suffered a hamstring injury that forced him off the field in our last outing vs Warrington at home, and scans have revealed that this injury will unfortunately keep him sidelined for 12-16 weeks.
“Our Captain has the support of everyone at the club, and we’re looking forward to Clune returning to the field for the final games of the season.”
Huddersfield Giants captain’s first words after ‘frustrating injury’
Also within the club statement was Clune’s reaction to the news, something he described as ‘frustrating’ not just from a personal level but also because of his belief that Huddersfield are capable of success.
He said: “It’s been frustrating not being able to stay out there consistently and play the footy I know I’m capable of.
“More than anything, I want to be out there with the boys because I genuinely believe this team is capable of success. It’s been tough dealing with another setback, but I’ll keep doing everything I can to help the group while I recover and make sure I’m ready to contribute again as soon as possible.”
Clune shone in his first season with the Giants, playing 26 games in 2024 as he registered eight assists and scored four tries, however, he played just six matches in 2025 and has only been able to take to the field five times in 2026.
