Huddersfield Giants have moves to secure the future of one of their academy prospects but they have also seen another of their young talents leave on a permanent basis.
Forward Jacob Algar, who has two first team appearances to date, has inked a new three-year deal with the young forward committing his future to the Giants having come through the system at Huddersfield.
Algar signed a first-team contract last April with that two-year deal set to run from December 1st 2025 through to the end of the 2027 season, however, he’s now signed this three-year deal that keeps him at the club until the end of 2029.
He played in the Challenge Cup defeat to Hull KR earlier in the season but has been on loan with Dewsbury Rams of late, featuring for the Championship club in their last three matches.
On his new deal, Algar said: “I’m really excited to stay, i’m so happy the deal is signed and sorted now and i’m ready to work hard and improve myself over the next three years.
“When I’ve been watching myself back on the clips I can see how much i’ve improved here but there’s still a lot of work to be done, thankful to Finny and Leroy and all the staff here for their work on improving my game and believing in me.”

Huddersfield Giants winger leaves club
The 19-year-old wasn’t the only Huddersfield youngster to be securing a deal but winger Alex Chippendale has landed a permanent move away from the Giants as he links up with Rochdale Hornets.
Like Algar, Chippendale played in the Challenge Cup loss against Hull KR earlier in the year with that being his only senior appearance to date.
Announcing the deal, Rochdale said: “Rochdale Hornets have completed the signing of talented outside back Alex Chippendale on a permanent deal.
“The 19-year-old makes the move to the Crown Oil Arena from Super League side Huddersfield Giants.”
On the move, Chippendale said: “I’m really excited to be joining Rochdale Hornets. This is a big opportunity for me to grow and test myself at a high level.
“The ambition around the club and the belief they have in young players really stood out to me.
“I can’t wait to get going, learn from the lads and coaches, and give everything I’ve got in a Rochdale shirt.”
