Huddersfield Giants have been granted planning permission that will see developments to their on and off-field training facilities.
Kirklees council have allowed the Giants to build a new state-of-the-art training facility, and after the completion of a new training pitch, there will now be a purpose-built training gym for all players and teams under the Giants branding to use.
Huddersfield’s current base is on Leeds Road, however Laund Hill will be the new home of the Giants throughout the week. This is also where Huddersfield’s Reserves, Academy and Women’s side currently play their home matches.
Big things are still to come for the West Yorkshire side, with chairman Ken Davy OBE also wanting to build a new ground for the Giants that will allow them to move away from the John Smith’s Stadium.
However, that will take time to come to an eventual fruition, and in the meantime, Davy has invested money into The Shay Stadium, in Halifax.

The Shay is currently home to FC Halifax Town and Halifax Panthers, but Davy wants the Giants to also be able to play there, and has bought a new pitch for the three teams to play on.
The 83-year-old visited the stadium to give fans an update on the progress.
He said: “The pitch is really looking well. We’ve got great grass-growing weather, it is just what we need.”
He added: “It is definitely going to be finished for the new football season, and obviously the Panthers are going to be using it now. At some stage we also hope to be here as well, for the Giants.”
There is hope that with the new stadium, and the possible move to The Shay, the fans will be able to fill out more of the ground and can create more of an atmosphere.
We saw, when Huddersfield had to play a home game at Dewsbury’s FLAIR Stadium in June, the intimacy of the ground helped the Giants to what was nearly a huge upset win.
