Huddersfield Giants coach Luke Robinson has explained his ‘animated’ sideline behaviour after his side’s 30-12 win over Castleford Tigers.
It marked just the third win of the Giants’ season with the win book ended by two Tui Lolohea tries, one in the opening ten minutes and an intercept breakaway in the final minute for the Huddersfield number six.
Castleford Tigers head coach Danny McGuire slammed his side’s performance and accused his team of falling in love with themselves after a narrow loss to Wigan, however, it was Luke Robinson who was animated throughout the match.
On multiple occasions throughout the game, Robinson left the gantry and came down to the touchline in an animated fashion and he explained why when speaking to BBC Radio Leeds post-match.
“I’ve lost my voice so I don’t think they could hear me on the radio,” he joked, adding: “I needed to get down so I could make sure that they could hear me and get my messages across.”

As for why he was so animated, Robinson explained: “There was a couple of different things, one of the times when I ran down in the first-half was when the shot clock hooter went.
“Ten seconds after (the hooter went) they put the ball in. What’s the point in having a shot clock? What is the point? They turned and went ‘oh the hooter has gone, you better put the ball in in the next 30 seconds’. It had gone though.”
He’d then admit: “I did run down a couple of times and was obviously getting a little bit animated and with me having no voice, I felt I needed to be pitchside.”
Earlier in the week, Robinson had called on the referees to be strong and asked them not to get ‘riled up and actually go against us’, and he offered his assessment post-match.
“It’s not an easy job, it’s not a job I’d like to do,” Robinson explained.
“You’re always going to be the villain on one part. I thought Cas were really hard done by last week… but for us as a team we’ve got to concentrate on what we can do to gain penalties and not have them given against us.”
