Arguably the biggest game of the regular Super League season will take place this week, as Wigan Warriors host Hull KR in the clash billed as “The Battle at the Brick”. Here is how you can watch the clash, which is one of 20 televised rugby league matches this week, including a fixture on the BBC.
Thursday 14th August:
The week’s action kicks off with a huge matchup down under, as second placed Melbourne Storm travel to fourth placed Penrith Panthers. After a shocking start to the season, Penrith have climbed their way back up the ladder and after last week’s win entered the top four for the first time all season.
Thursday’s Super League offering comes from the Halliwell Jones Stadium, as Warrington Wolves host Catalans Dragons. Wire are five points off the playoffs, whilst Catalans have not won since June, in what have been disappointing seasons for both sides.
Friday 15th August:
An NRL double header kicks off Friday morning. First, NZ Warriors who dropped out of the top four at the expense of Penrith, take on St George Illawarra Dragons before Sydney Roosters host Canterbury Bulldogs.
Friday night sees undoubtedly the biggest game of the weekend as Wigan Warriors host Hull KR in that mouth-watering tie that could have huge ramifications on the League Leaders’ Shield. Will the Robins rue the absence of Tyrone May, or will they finally get one over on the back-to-back champions?
Saturday 16th August:
NRLW kicks off Saturday’s entertainment, in what is another early start for UK fans. Cronulla Sharks host Gold Coast Titans in a men’s and women’s double header. Brisbane and Parramatta’s women’s sides then do battle before NZ Warriors and Canberra Raiders women do the same.
The Broncos’ men then take on the Dolphins, as just two points separate the sides looking to remain in the top eight. South Sydney Rabbitohs, who have dropped Lewis Dodd to NSW Cup once again, look to carry on the momentum from their victory over Gold Coast when they take on Parramatta.
Super League actions sees rivals Castleford Tigers and Leeds Rhinos go at it once again, before a potential potential play-off dress rehearsal sees Hull FC take on Leigh Leopards.
Sunday 17th August:
There are seven matchups on Sunday for your rugby league fix, starting with a NRLW double header. Wests Tigers host St George Illawarra before unbeaten Sydney Roosters take on 3rd placed Newcastle.
Wests Tigers’ men take on Manly Sea Eagles at home, before North Queensland Cowboys also put on a double header. The Cowboys’ men take on Newcastle, prior to their women’s side facing Canterbury in a crucial playoff affair.
On Sunday afternoon, Super League returns to the BBC as St Helens host Huddersfield Giants. Both sides have won their last two and aim to finish the season strong. A top four spot is well in reach of the home side.
The weekend rounds off once again with Salford Red Devils, as they take on Wakefield Trinity in what could be vital in Trinity’s play-off push.
