There is plenty of rugby league to watch on TV this weekend, including the return of Super League to free-to-air coverage on the BBC.
With a full slate of NRL games and Super League fixtures, there’s plenty to watch after yet another dramatic round of rugby league last week which saw champions Wigan Warriors lose in Super League, and NRL champs Penrith land an upset win.
Looking ahead to how this week shapes up, there are games Thursday through Sunday with a very busy slate on Saturday.
Thursday 26th June
There is no Super League on Thursday which means the NRL clash is the only match available. Luckily, it’s a good one as reigning champs Penrith take on first-placed Canterbury in a match that will really test the mettle of Cameron Ciraldo’s side.
Friday 27th June
There is a standout NRL fixture from an English perspective on Friday morning as Newcastle host Canberra with Dom Young, Kai Pearce-Paul and Morgan Smithies expected to take part. Then onto the evening and the Super League action as leaders Hull KR look to avoid the same fate that Wigan fell to last week when they take on Wakefield. However, at the same time the game of the round is being played, with Leeds hosting Leigh as the sides face off for the first time this season.
Saturday 28th June
There are six games on Saturday, three from Down Under and three in Super League meaning there’s lots of rugby to get stuck into. The pick of the games in the NRL sees the Dolphins take on the Bunnies at a UK-friendly time of 10:50, before the evening matches in Super League begin.
Warrington host Hull FC in an interesting clash at 5:30 pm but a couple of hours later, Wigan travel to Castleford in the match that is free-to-air on the BBC Red Button.
Sunday 29th June
Sunday is far quieter with just two NRL games and then the sole Super League clash between St Helens and Salford Red Devils, the third time these sides have met and the second time in a short space of time.
